Olive Tree

It has been verified that since 4000 BC, the olive tree has been planted for its usefulness, and it is still the most widespread cultivated tree in the Mediterranean region. The ripe fruits can be eaten and processed into valuable oil.
In biblical times, olive oil served as a fuel in clay lamps, for curing diseases, for wound care and also for skin care. In addition, olive oil played an important role in cultic acts. It was used as an offering and as an anointing oil for kings, priests and prophets. The wood of the olive tree was a valuable building material.
In the Bible, the olive tree is mentioned in many places as a meaningful and symbolic tree. It stands for peace, joy, new life and hope.
